Our national philanthropic project is Links to Literacy, which all Pi Beta Phi chapters participate in. The program is geared toward helping the community increasing literacy awareness. Each week a group of Pi Phis goes to Edward Gonzales Elementary School and reads to a class of kindergarten students. One of our favorite projects we partcipated in last year was "Read Across America", where Pi Phis from all over the nation went to airports and passed out Dr. Seuss books to children boarding planes. Along with that, we also take pride in particpating in Arrow in the Artic and Arrowmont.
Links to Literacy - Our goal is to provide service in the community and to individuals in support of literacy and we work towards implementing literacy projects. A week in October is designated as the Links to Literacy Week.
Arrow in the Arctic - Established in 1967 and officially named in 1969, this Canadian philanthropy supports literacy in Whitehorse, Yukon and Yellowknife.
Arrowmont - A Settlement School which was founded in 1912 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The school provided education, healthcare, and assisted in the economic development of the rural surrounding area. Today the school encourages academic development in literacy and the arts.
